reserved - treble info Augsberger boys choir boy's choir Although the tradition of choral music dates back to 1439 when the Domsingknaben were first mentioned, the choir had died out by the mid nineteenth century. It was reformed by Bishop Dr. Josef Stimpfle in 1976. The main duty of the choir is to provide music for St Mary's Cathedral in Augsberg. The choir attaches particular significance to cultivating the Gregorian choral and old classic polyphonic music. The choir music of early Viennase Classic as well as the vocal music of Johann Sebastian Bach also belong to the regular repertoire of the Augsburger Domsingknaben.
