Cathedral Choir ,
England, UK The
Cathedral Choir was founded in 1984 by Andrew Wright, Master of Music.
Over the years the Choir has expanded from the original Boys' Choir of
some thirty voices, to its present membership which includes the Choir
Gentlemen, together with the Cathedral Lay Clerks. The Choristers are
drawn principally from Loyola Preparatory School (Headmaster: Mr. Peter
Nicholson) and also from around the Diocese. Rehearsals take place
twice a week after school.
In addition to the major Cathedral
liturgies and the Sunday Choral Mass (11.30am), the Choir Gentlemen
also sing Choral Vespers on the third Sunday of each month. Over the
years a number of recordings and broadcasts have been made and tours
undertaken in Belgium, Holland, Ireland, Germany and Austria; the
Choristers' last tour was to Berlin where they performed at St.Hedwig's
Cathedral
