Ernest Lough
Ernest Lough was the most famous of the boy trebles
from The Temple Church Choir. His recording of 'O for the Wings of a Dove'
has been available since it was first recorded in 1927. It was re-released
on LP in the early sixties and thereafter on CD on the pearl label. Nearly
all his boy recordings are also available on 'The Better Land' or 'The
Glory of the Temple Church' compilation CDs. His best recording in my
opinion is 'Hear ye Israel'. Ernest Lough died in 2000. More info at boysoprano.org
Ronald Mallett
Another early memorable recording is of 'I waited for
the Lord' in which the trebles are Ronald Mallett and Ernest Lough
Denis Barthell
Denis Barthell was head chorister and soloist in 1931
after Ernest Lough had left and had numerous recordings on 78s.
Thomas Meddings
Thomas Meddings took over the role of head soloist from
Denis Barthell and has recordings dating from 1933-1935
Robin Lough
Robin Lough was the son of Ernest Lough and has a few
solos on records dating from the late 50s early sixties.
